Cosworth promise power upgrades for the FA 20 engine
Ever since the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ arrived as ‘affordable’ sports cars with a focus on the dynamics rather than outright power, there’s been endless claims and rumours that more power is on the way. As far back as 2011, Subaru in the US confirmed that a turbo version of the BRZ’s 2.0 litre FA20 Boxer engine was under development although, to be fair, they didn’t say it was actually heading for the BRZ. And just last year, Subaru teased what we thought could be a more powerful BRZ STI, but that turned out to be a BRZ tS with go faster bits but no more actual power.

The lowdown
Renault boss Carlos Ghosn today unveiled the latest fruits of the Renault/Nissan alliance at the Paris Motor Show: the Renault Koleos concept, the French firm’s first steps into soft-roader territory. Despite being a concept, the Koleos closely mirrors the production car. The Koleos is an incredibly important vehicle for Renault, taking it into the crossover 4x4 market, and being a key player in La Regie’s bid to release 26 cars by 2009 – ‘to rejuvenate, extend and revitalize our product range,’ according to Ghosn.
Volkswagen GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo brought to life
We’ve already had Worthersee Concepts from Skoda, Audi and SEAT, but now we get the Worthersee Concept from the Mother Ship – the Volkswagen GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo Concept. VW has brought to life a car created for the virtual world of Gran Turismo gaming and has revealed a series ofd design sketches (above) before the real car makes its appearance at Worthersee. VW are calling the GTI Roadster a supercar with aggressive styling, and the GTI Roadster certainly looks dramatic (although that drama may well be a little less extreme when it arrives in the metal) and, just like the Skoda CitiJet and SEAT Ibiza Cupster Concepts, manages without a roof.
